The Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) Course is where your riding dreams start to take shape.
Whether you’re a complete novice on the bike or revisiting your passion after a break, this course is your gateway to the exhilarating world of motorcycling.
It’s not just about learning to ride; it’s about starting a journey towards becoming a confident rider, achieving your dreams and changing your life.
Our CBT Course is designed for everyone who wants to start their motorcycling journey on 2 wheels.
We cater for people who want to learn properly and not rush through the process. You will get the best results when you set solid foundations for your future with methodical and in-depth coaching.
If you’re an absolute beginner, you’ll find our weekday sessions especially beneficial. For those with some experience, the weekend courses will help polish your skills.
Ideal for new riders, our weekday sessions provide a calm and very spacious environment. You'll learn the basics of bike handling, control and safety in a supportive setting, building confidence at your own pace.
Tailored for those renewing their CBT or with prior riding experience, our weekend site is small and is not ideal for novice riders. The course focuses on refining your riding skills and updating you with the latest regulations.
As our customer you gain access to the UK’s only online training and support platform. This rich online resource helps to prepare you for the practical aspects of riding, offering detailed insights into the motorcycle and riding techniques.
Expect a thorough training day where you will be taught to a very high standard. The guidance that you get is to ensure you set a solid foundation to your riding. Without this you will be more vulnerable.
If you struggle during the day, you will not be pushed to complete, the pace of the training will be adapted to your specific needs and requirements. You will not be rushed through the process, instead we recommend slowing the pace and making sure the process is understood.
If you do not achieve the required standard during the car park session, you will not go onto the road. This ensures your safety, which is paramount to our training regime.
If you know you are not a quick learner or want to slow things down to a better pace, choose to do the Pre-CBT taster sessions and perhaps opt for the 2 day CBT Course.

Establish a strong base in motorcycle riding, from basic control to riding on the road.

With online resources and practical training gain a comprehensive understanding of how to control the motorbike.

Our small class sizes ensure personalised guidance, with only two students per instructor for focused learning.

Choose between a one-day course or a more relaxed pace two-day CBT programme, tailored to your learning pace and comfort.
Complement your practical training with Motorcycle Riders Hub, an online platform offering extensive resources for each phase of your motorcycle training.

I took my CBT yesterday and just wanted to say what a great day I had. Malcolm was calm and very patient, his instructions were clear and well explained and he generally put me at ease by boosting my confidence when things went well whilst being considerate when things weren’t so good.
Having done my CBT with another company a number of years ago, I tried unsuccessfully (I’m now happy to say) to book with them. I’m so glad they didn’t return my calls.
I would happily recommend RMT to anybody considering any level of Motorcycle training. Thanks once again and keep up the great work!Karl Motion
