IPSGA VIDEO TRAINING GUIDE
Advanced motorcycle training is often misunderstood as something that is out of reach for most riders. This is not the case, advanced training means further education and development and a way of improving to a higher level. Everyone can improve, it just takes a bit of time, patience and a new approach.
Changes can be made by using a methodical approach, the way of riding is known as ‘the system of motorcycle control’. It can be mastered in a short period of time, it just needs to be adopted on every ride and in every situation. It is often referred to by riders who know and use it, as ‘The SYSTEM’.
This technique is used in the Police Riders Handbook – Roadcraft when training police riders. The simple elements in the system are broken down into phases, the mnemonic used is IPSGA. Which stands for Information, Position, Speed, Gear and Acceleration.
The video training programs run through the basics of ‘The System’. This helps riders understand what small changes can be made for maximum results.
This advanced motorcycle training academy provides video guides covering the five core principles of IPSGA.
They are:
Information – How to Take on the information that is in front of a rider and be able to Use it to create a structured riding plan. This allows the rider to Give information to other road users if it is necessary.
Position – By adopting the correct road position early enough, it allows the rider to see more and develop the skill of being flexible in their approach.
Speed – Using the brakes together with throttle sense will ensure the rider is travelling at the correct speed in all situations. You should never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly.
Gear – Being in the correct gear allows you to make changes to your riding plan. It allows the rider to be in a responsive gear and use throttle sense to balance the motorcycle.
Acceleration – Soon after the apex the rider can use the throttle to accelerate away from the hazard. With a good riding plan, it allows you to link hazards and adopt the correct riding position for the next hazard.
By using these convenient 24/7 advanced motorcycle training resources. This allows you to gain a thorough knowledge of IPSGA/advanced riding techniques before taking any practical motorcycle training.
